Albert Atkins

Albert G. Atkins, 81 of North Chicago passed away Wednesday August 8, 2018 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan.

He was born on October 13, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Alfred & Frances (Geer) Atkins. On April 8, 1961 he married the former Betty M. Stanley. He served in the United States Navy for 23 years retiring in 1977. He then worked as a dispatcher and safety supervisor for the PACE bus service for an additional 25 years. Albert enjoyed bowling, reading, cooking and he loved watching old movies, especially Western's, Classics, and Perry Mason. Albert particularly enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He was a long standing member of Mr. Sinai Baptist Institutional Church in North Chicago.

Albert is survived by his wife Betty; his son, Darreyl (Katherine) Atkins; his grandchildren, Kimyata Green, Nina Edwards, Danea Atkins, Jolisa Atkins, and Darreyl Atkins, his great grandchildren David Edwards and Braelynn Faith Roberts, his nieces, Cheryl Tyson, Roxie Atkins, and Danita Atkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Delorlyn Atkins.

Visitation will be Saturday August 18, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to Noon at Mt. Sinai Baptist Institutional Church located at 2401 Argonne Dr. North Chicago, Illinois. Funeral services will be Saturday August 18, 2018 at Noon. Rev. Gerald Wilcoxon will officiate.

Entombment will be at Warren Cemetery & Mausoleum in Gurnee, Illinois.

Warren Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
