Burgess L. Byrd, age 88 of North Chicago, IL, veteran U.S. Army, passed away at his home on Thursday March 22, 2018.
He was born on October 28, 1929 in Geiger, AL. to the late Leon and Luebirda (Inge) Byrd.
Burgess, retired after 40 years with LTV Steel and had been a Deacon at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH where he was named 2001 Man of the Year. He was a Mason and he enjoyed bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his children; Adrian Byrd, Jacquelyn Byrd, Andrea Lewis and Shaunese (Andre) Teamer and their mother Imogene (nee Martin) Byrd, his sister Annie (Robert) Greer, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.
Burgess was preceded in death by his parents, his sons; Sherman and Ronald Byrd, his brothers; Rudolph and Alphonia Byrd and grandson, Antonio Marbury.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 7, 2018 from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at Warren Funeral Home located at 1475 N. Cemetery Rd. Gurnee, IL 60031. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee, IL.
