Charles “Chad” John Nagle, age 64, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lake County, Illinois, on March 22, 1962, Chad spent the majority of his life there.
Charles was preceded in death by his treasured parents Charles and Rita Nagle. He is survived by his two beloved children Darrin C. (Ariadne) Nagle and Samantha H. Nagle and his ex-wife, best friend, and caretaker, Helen Nagle (nee Christenson). He is also survived by his two cherished grandchildren, Sofia M. Nagle, Cash M. Nagle, and his pal Uriah Rogers (Ariadne’s son). Charles also leaves behind his five siblings, Nora (Bruce) Sanchez, Margaret (Todd) Stein, John C. Nagle, Maureen (Lonnie) Urban, and Colleen (Scott) Tryner as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles had very fond memories of his childhood in Gurnee, Illinois. He loved to have fun and was not one to be stationary. As a child and teen, it was all sports, all the time. He enjoyed rallying neighborhood friends into a game of basketball in the driveway, or a wiffle ball game in the neighbor’s backyard, or a hockey game on the local pond.
His sports fanaticism included an affinity for watching football, with a lifelong devotion to the Raiders. More than likely, if you ran into Charles out and about, he had on a Raiders t-shirt or baseball hat. Charles loved watching football with his son Darrin. He also loved baseball and he shared his father’s obsession with the Chicago Cubs. If that were not enough, he loved watching professional hockey, his favorite team being the Blackhawks, without question. If you needed sports stats, Charles was your man.
Many people may not know this about him, but Charles was also a musician. In his youth, he played the bass guitar and could often be found jamming with his bandmates. If he was not playing music, he was most certainly listening to it. Rock was his genre, but he ventured into other styles as well. His favorite artists were hands-down the Beatles. Other favorites included John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Wings, Simon and Garfunkel, Bread, and so many more. His love of music never faded, and he enjoyed sharing songs with others to listen to and then discuss.
Though Charles was born in Illinois, his father’s career moved the family several times, leading them to spend time in Nashville, Tennessee; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Sandy, Utah. The family ultimately returned to Illinois, which pleased Charles immensely as his heart always belonged there. After retiring from Northshore Gas after 20+ years, where he developed many close friendships, Charles and his best friend, Helen, resided in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
Charles loved his family first and foremost. He was extremely loyal to and proud of his entire family. He will be missed more than he could possibly imagine.
