Earle Swanson

Earle H. Swanson, 89, of McHenry, formerly of Park Ridge and Chicago died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at home after a short illness. He was born November 7, 1926 in Chicago. Growing up in the Andersonville area, Earle's passions were Big Band Music, and he was a lifelong drummer. His interests were many, including roller skating, dancing, military history, and he was a "Master" collector of all things! Earle enjoyed roller coasters, waterslides, and tubing well into his 80's. He served in the Army both at the end of WWII and during the Korean Conflict. Earle had a kind disposition, was always willing to lend a hand, and was a friend to all who knew him. We will miss his gentle spirit, warm smile, and fun loving nature. We thank God for blessing all of us with so many wonderful memories of him. Earle was beloved husband of Gerry, nee McMahon and the late Gladys, nee Stembridge; Loving father of David (Elizabeth) Swanson and Nancy (Robert) Alongi; Loving stepfather of Stormy (William) Wolff, Kenneth Sr. (Michelle) Tank, Scott (Rebecca) McMahon, Dale McMahon; Loving grandfather of Karryn, Leena, Ashley, Michael, April (Aaron), Staci (Daniel), Kimberly, the late Jennifer, Kenneth Jr. (Kimberly), Anthony Sr. (Sarah), Stephanie, Rachel, Kelly and Corrie; great grandfather of 8; Loving brother-in-law to Margaret Hosking of Michigan, Helen Unterreiner, Jonell Cummins and Howard (Wavelan) Stembridge all of Kentucky, and fond uncle of many. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 6pm-8pm with a service at 7:30pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 11am-12pm at Morgan's Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington St., Princeton, KY 42445. Graveside services and Army Military Honors will take place at 12:30 pm at Lance Nichols Cemetery in Caldwell County, KY. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
