Ethan Waratuke

Ethan Henry Waratuke, passed away unexpectedly on October 20, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife Johanna Waratuke (nee Fernandez); his proud parents David and Kellie Waratuke; his dearest siblings Ian, Colin, Duncan, and Madelaine Waratuke; his cherished grandparents Anthony and Lynn Waratuke; his esteemed parents-in-law Mercedes and Francisco Fernandez and his brother-in-law Bryan Fernandez. He is a dear husband, son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in passing by his cherished grandparents Gloria and Bill Cadle.

Ethan graduated with his undergraduate degree from University of Illinois Chicago (2022) and his masters degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2024) in geotechnical engineering. 

He had a passion for gardening, cooking, baking, video games, HEMA, and fencing. He had a great love for animals, especially his family pets and his own dog, Honey. 

Ethan will be remembered as a man of deep intelligence, loyalty, humor, and love of his family and friends. 

Friends and family will meet for visitation on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 from 4PM-8PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 10AM at Warren Funeral Home, followed by interment at Warren Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ethan's name to his family would be greatly appreciated.
