Grady III

Grady W. Fitts, III, "Gentle Giant," 49, of Waukegan went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born June 5, 1967 in Waukegan. Grady loved Steppin Music, was known as "DJ Big G," and was one of the best DJs from Silver City Spinner and the Youth Center in North Chicago. He worked at Condell Hospital for the past 19 years as a Supervisor in the Dietary Department, and won MVP on April 24, 2015. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, mother, Margaret Smith; soul mate and best friend, Samantha Dotson-Cruz; daughter, Brittany Fitts; step-children, Shafi Darr, Sr., Carlos Cruz, Jr., Timothy Dye, Denikka Hicks and Danasia Hicks; grandchildren, Bri'annya, Taliyah, Gia, Shafi, Jr. and Adrian; brothers and sister, Rodney (Paula) Fitts, Kimberly (Erskin) Townsend and Curtis D. Fitts; step-brother, Roderick (Valerie) Tate; step-sister, Tonya Tate-Orsby; brothers-in-law, Victor D. Dotson and Samuel D., III (Silvia) Dotson; father and mother-in-law, Samuel D., Jr. and Jeweline Dotson; aunts and uncles, Joseph (Hattie Williams) Conver, Margery (Arlee, Jr.) Williams, Helen (Alexander Miller) Ross, Madeline (Gordon) Hazeley, Nata Cotton, Nathaniel, Jr. (Joan) Conver, Johnny Conver, Darlene (Mark Gallagher) Conver, James (Ernestine) Conver, Ronald (Angela) Conver, Elaine Conver and Sharmaine Jones; a host of cousins and loving friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nathaniel, Sr. and Rosie Conver; pops, Toussaint L. Tate, Jr.; son, Derrick Anthony Fitts; uncles, two twin baby boys; aunts, Mary Maurice Conver and Patricia Conver; step-brother-in-law, Jessie J. Orsby, Jr. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 from 10am-11am at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services are Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at 11am at the funeral home with Elder Mark Jones officiating. Burial will take place at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee.
