Guy "Sonny" Miller

Guy “Sonny” Edward Miller passed away on May 29, 2024.  

One of eighteen children born to parents Virgil and Rebecca (nee Magness) Miller, Sonny was a true Gurnee native.  As a result, he is survived by a truly enormous family clan including his children, Kelly Smith (nee Miller) of Gurnee and Burton “Jack” (Kathy) Miller of Winthrop Harbor; grandchildren Eric (Katy) Miller of Kenosha, Gregory Smith, Jr. of Gurnee, Andrew Miller presently stationed in Seattle, Washington, and Tayte Miller of Chicago; siblings Fannie Schroff, Donald Miller, and Thomas Miller; former wife Barbara Miller; and best friend, his dog Lexi.  His legacy will continue with his first great-granddaughter this autumn, when she joins the world.  He is also remembered by generations of nieces and nephews, cherished friends, and his community.  In addition to his parents, Sonny joins fourteen of his siblings at rest, as well as many other friends and relatives.

Sonny’s character was one of great range.  Part of the famous “big shoulders” field of Chicagoland’s meat industry, he was also a talented baker of golden pies and delicate cream puffs, among other sumptuous treats.  He loved a good thrill, too, from racing at the local speedway, to cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears, to the pull of the slots.   He will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10AM-12PM on Thursday June 6^th at Warren Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1475 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL, 60031 with graveside service led by Pastor Seth Haakenson and interment to follow.
