Herbert Vogt

Herbert W. Vogt, 81, of Gurnee passed away December 14, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Center in Round Lake Beach. He was born July 19, 1935 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Herman and Josephine (Kohls) Vogt. Herbert retired on April 30, 1980 from the Navy after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was Past Grand Knight and a 4th Degree Member. Herbert was also a Bereavement Minster and a Religious Education teacher for many years. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Constance "Connie" Vogt, Karen (Tony) Farella and Charleen "Char" (Francis) McFarlin; one sister, Irma Albanese; one brother, Henry (Rosie) Vogt; five grandchildren, Anthony Farella, Isaac McFarlin, Jacob McFarlin, Rachel McFarlin and Rebecca McFarlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Vogt, beloved wife whom he married on October 11, 1958, Dolores Vogt, and brother-in-law, Frank Albanese. Visitation is Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2-6pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Mass will be on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 10:30am with visitation one hour prior to services at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee with Fr. David Genders officiating (meet at the church). Burial will follow at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverside Foundation in Lincolnshire or Hillcrest Nursing Center in Round Lake Beach.
