Ignacio Ochoa Jr.

Ignacio Ochoa Jr. passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. He was born December 13, 1934, in Waukegan IL. to Ignacio Sr. and Margarita Ochoa. He was a beloved uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his dear siblings, Socorro, William and Ralph Ochoa; brother-in-law, Dave Bugge; sister-in-law, Janice Ochoa; granddaughters, Gina Ochoa, Evgenia Simopoulos and Lisa Marie Ochoa; his beloved parents, Ignacio Sr. and Margarita Ochoa as well as his precious Abuelita, Maria Velasco.

Iggy worked at Arwell and later United Parcel Service as a package delivery driver who would soon become the recipient of frequent family-favorite dishes and holiday gifts from customers on his route who appreciated Iggy’s kindness and quick wit.

In his later years he became one of Waukegan’s favorite bartenders at Small’s Tenth Inning where much laughter and “solving the world’s problems” were shared between he and his customers with many becoming lifelong friends.

Above all, Iggy cherished his time spent with family and friends. He and JoAnn enjoyed many vacations visiting family in Delaware, Florida, Washington and especially Mexico.

After the passing of his father, Iggy became the loving patriarch of the family whom we deeply loved and honored. He had a unique way of expressing to each one of us how special we were to him.

Iggy was a treasured gift to our family and to so many friends. The loss of his presence is profound and brings much sadness but his memory will hold joy in our hearts forever.

A special thank you to his caregivers for the compassionate care they gave Iggy in his last days.
