Jacqueline Mott

December 25, 1945 — May 26, 2020

Round Lake Park, Illinois

Jacqueline Zelent Mott, 74, of Grayslake, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at her home, surrounded by loved ones, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born on December 25, 1945, to the late Edward and Lois (Brainard) Zelent in Simsbury, CT. On October 21, 1967, she married the love of her life, Thomas Mott at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, Illinois. She resided in Grayslake for the past 51 years, and was a long-time member of Shepherd of the Lakes Church in Grayslake.

Jackie had an amazing ability to make everyone she met feel special and loved, as the love just seemed to radiate from her. She was an avid gardener, and her flowers were always a sight to behold. Jackie loved the beach, swimming, shelling, and the sun. She was an excellent cook, and especially enjoyed sweets. She loved all things Hallmark, from the store to the movies. While she loved everyone, her greatest love of all was her family, and her seven grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy. Whether playing games, swimming, watching movies, or allowing them to give her a “spa” treatment, she was up for anything they wanted, and they could do no wrong. She made them all feel like the most special beings on earth, and told them a hundred million times, “I love you to the moon and back.”

Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Thomas; her children, Holly (Alec) Schueneman, Andrew (Nekea) Mott, and Adam Mott; her grandchildren, Levi and Nolan Schueneman, Morgan, Aubrey, and Elayna Mott (Andrew and Nekea), and Brooklyn and Connor Mott (Adam and Erin); her sisters, Judy (Ronald) Ripke, and Nancy (James) Gullberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Erin (Carr) Mott.

Jackie happily and gracefully shared a birthday with Jesus, and now they will joyfully celebrate together.

A formal gathering to celebrate Jackie’s beautiful life will take place at a later date (due to COVID-19) and will be updated on her CaringBridge page (caringbridge.org/visit/jackiemott). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org). Warren Funeral Home and Cemetery is assisting the family.
