James Petties

James E. Petties, 91, of Waukegan went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 27, 2015. He was born on September 8, 1923 in Webb, Mississippi. James was a WWII US Navy Veteran. After the Navy, he worked as a Chef Supervisor at the Great Lakes Naval Base, retiring in 1985. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, three daughters, Bessie Zackery Petty, Nakita Matthews and Shayla (Daniel) Bysina; three grandchildren, Steve (Lisa) Zackery, Marcus (Andrea) Zackery and Leilani Bysina; ten great grandchildren, Arkiya, Rasante, Jared, Taesha, Nikki, Jaela, Alexis, Jaeden, Jaeda, Sinclair, and a host of nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Annie (Stokes) Petty; his beloved wife, Lizzie May Petties; three brothers, William Petty, Frank Petty and Clayton Williams; five sisters, Estella Lewis, Daisy Johnson, Frances Johnson, Sara Scott and Tina Williams. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10:00 am at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee with Rev. W. C. Matthews officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 am-10:00 am at the funeral home; viewing will be from 9:00 am- 9:30 am only. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion.
