James Richardson Sr

James D. "Pocky" Richardson died peacefully in Lindenhurst, Illinois on August 15, 2016 at the age of 85.
James is survived by his son James, Jr and daughter (in-law) Julie, brother Don, grandchildren Jessica and Jennifer, great grandchildren Noah and Emma. He is preceded in death by his wife Gloria Jean, daughter Jan Cecile, son Joseph Carl, brother Joseph and sister Gayle.
James was born in Huntington, West Virginia to Ruth and Joseph Paul Richardson. He married his high school sweetheart Gloria Jean. He then graduated from University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Business. After moving to Chillicothe, Ohio he started a successful career with Mead Paper Corporation and retired 33 years later. The couple welcomed three children to the family. James was a kind, gentle and patient father who was a caregiver through two of his children's and his wife's terminal illnesses.
Growing up in the hills of Kentucky, James was an avid outdoorsman, tap danced on river boats and at 19 served as Mayor Pro Tempore of his hometown Catlettsburg, Kentucky. James was a Kentucky Colonel and 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He loved fishing, sailing with his wife and was passionate about all things porcine. He was active in the Presbyterian Church and selflessly put all others before himself.
Funeral arrangements are private. In lieu of flowers the family requests a small donation to either Journeycare Hospice at http://journeycare.org/donate/ or the hospice of your choice.
The family would like to thank the caregivers, staff, residents and volunteers at Victory Lakes Skilled Care for the genuine love and devotion they shared during his stay.
