John K. Shaffstall, passed away on December 6, 2023. Loving father of John (Kelsey) Shaffstall, William Shaffstall II, and Hannah (Peter) Domanski. Proud grandfather of Suzette and Alice Mary Shaffstall. Dear brother to the late Marilyn Shaffstall, William (Ronalda) Shaffstall, Diane (the late Gary) Virta, Allie Mary (Bob) Gariepy, Amy (John) Hillier. Cherished son of the late William and Suzette Shaffstall, nephew of the late Alice Mary Scholtes, and son-in-law of the late Henry Ricken. Dear friend and former husband of Ann M. Shaffstall.
John grew up in Munising, MI and began his academic career at Sacred Heart Catholic School where he was also a member. Then continued on to William G. Mather High School and DeVry University and received his electronics degree. He learned software at Teletype and he then began his career at Zenith, where he worked for 20 years and developed a patent for a wire-stripping mechanism. He then moved on to Abbott, Siemens, Shure and then Primex. He enjoyed being a part of a high-powered rocketry club and acted as a commissioner for his fantasy football league. He was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers, Led Zeppelin, and rock and roll. He was also a talented drummer, playing in his high school band "The Apple Corps" and at wedding receptions. John was a passionate inventor and tinkered with microprocessors and electronics in his free time. When his kids were over, you could always catch them in the middle of an intense board game such as Risk or Codenames.
