Judith "Judy" Daugherty (nee Newbury), 59 years old of Columbus, Mississippi, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 3 while vacationing in Custer, South Dakota. Judy was born September 16, 1953 in Waukegan, IL, the daughter of Ernest Newbury and Naomi Elizabeth "Beth" Trolin. Judy worked in the medical device manufacturing field her entire 39 year career, most recently at Microtek Medical in Columbus, MS. Judy had a kind and giving nature, always taking care of those around her. She was an avid reader who shared her love of reading with both her mother and daughter. Judy also had an unending passion for animals and could not turn away any animal in need.
Judy is survived by her husband of 12 years, Dave, her daughter Lisa (Wally) Seil of Wadsworth, IL, step-son Keith (Christy) Daugherty of Colorado Springs, CO, and step-daughter Rebecca Daugherty of Aspers, PA, grandchildren Jacob, Caleigh, Joshua, Maci, and Melia Daugherty of Colorado Springs, CO, sister-in-law Bobbie Jean Newbury and nieces Dawn Newbury and Traci Sasko of Cocoa, FL, brother-in-law Mike (Barb) Daugherty of Mineral Point, WI . She also leaves behind her beloved pet menagerie: Tink, Baby, Lucky, Chester, Mama, Tude, Jack, Bob, Sandy, Ringo, and Chirp. She was preceded in death by her father Ernest in 1962, mother Naomi "Beth" in 1997, brother William in 2004, and brother Michael in 2005. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 3:30pm with visitation one hour prior to services from 2:30pm-3:30pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Inurnment will be at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee, IL. Donations in her memory can be made to Save-A-Pet in Grayslake (http://www.saveapetil.org/). "We shall see you again, with the eyes of our hearts."
