Judy Ann Groenke

Judith Ann Groenke, 86, of Libertyville, Illinois, entered into eternal rest and the joyful presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 22, 2026.

Judy was born in 1939 to Walter and Leone Meumann and spent her childhood on her family’s farm in Gurnee, Illinois. As a teenager, her family relocated to Whitewater, Wisconsin, where she graduated from high school and attended the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. She met her husband, Donald “Don” Groenke, in Libertyville, and they spent the early years of their marriage surrounded by a lively circle of friends, dancing on the weekends, performing in water ski shows on Butler Lake, and downhill skiing throughout the Midwest and Colorado, including many years at Wilmot Mountain.

Judy’s life was rooted in a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. Wherever they lived, she formed lasting friendships grounded in faith. She found great joy in prayer, Bible study, and fellowship, and for many years was an active participant in Women’s Aglow International.

She is survived by her loving sons, Eric and Mark, and their spouses; her cherished granddaughters, Hannah and Sophia; and her dear sisters, Louise and Joan. She was also a beloved aunt, cousin, and faithful friend.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Don” Groenke; her parents; and her brothers, Allen and Neale.

Though she is deeply missed, her family and friends find comfort in the assurance that she now rests in the eternal peace of Christ.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Grayslake. Memorial donations may be made to the church
