With a youthful spirit, an adventurous heart, and a gift for bringing people together, Klaus Schmidtke passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at the age of 77.
Klaus approached life with curiosity, enthusiasm, and gratitude. A skilled artist, he found joy in traveling, listening to music, exploring the outdoors, rock climbing, sharing stories, and spending time near the ocean. Hawaii held a special place in his heart, offering the adventure, peace, and connection to nature that he loved.
To his family, Klaus was the fun uncle everyone wishes they had. To his friends, he was loyal, supportive, and always ready with a story or a laugh. To many others, he was a mentor whose encouragement, kindness, and belief in people inspired them to grow, pursue their goals, and become the best versions of themselves.
Klaus is survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Mary Schmidtke; his loving nieces, Michelle Sigg, Heidi Jablonski, and Diana Schmidtke Elimelech; his cherished great-nieces, Madelynne Kick (Sigg) and Gisele Jablonski; his great-nephews, Sebastian Sigg and Ethan Jablonski; and his respected nephews-in-law, Bryan Sigg, Brent Jablonski, and Ran Elimelech.
He was preceded in death by the parents he loved so dearly, Helmut and Marianne (Müller) Schmidtke, and his dear brother, Dieter Schmidtke.
Klaus leaves behind a legacy of kindness, adventure, laughter, and friendship. He taught those around him to embrace life fully, appreciate the simple things, and never stop exploring. Though his absence is felt deeply, he will continue to live on in the stories we tell, the lessons he shared, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
