Laurel "Tama" Borg (81) passed away on August 29th, 2026, surrounded by her husband, Keith, and her granddaughter, Ashleigh.
Tama was born on August 12th, 1945, to Laurel and Phillip Ellis, one of five daughters whom they would love and raise right in Waukegan. Tama attended Waukegan schools where she would meet her future husband Keith in grade school.
Tama worked for Keith’s construction company handling the accounting and book keeping for many years. While also being a full time mother to her children. And eventually an amazing grandmother. Tama was a woman of conviction who loved fiercely and honestly, who greatly enjoyed playing hostess, and preferred not to be in the spotlight if she could avoid it. She was a woman of class with a sharp wit and a big heart.
Tama married the love of her life, Keith Borg, on June 29th, 1963, to whom she was married to for 63 years. Together they had two children, Chad and Rachelle, and built their life in Waukegan. Being a mother to Chad and Rachelle was Tama’s biggest honor. She took pride in what amazing humans they grew to be. And stuck by their sides until their untimely passings.
Tama is survived by her doting husband, Keith Borg, her loving granddaughter Ashleigh Johnson, her sisters Phyllis "Foo" (Nick) Travetto and Robin (the late Glenn), her best friends Nancy (Donald) Schreiber and Betsy (the late Bob) Bisland, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tama is preceded in death by her son, Chad, her daughter, Rachelle, her parents, Laurel and Phillip Ellis, and her sisters Sharon and Terry.
Friends and family will meet for visitation on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 10:30AM-12PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. The funeral service will begin at 12PM, followed by interment at Warren Cemetery.
