Lee Dietrich

Lee Andrew Dietrich, 82, of Beach Park, passed away on the first of September, 2023.

Lee was born the 19th of September, 1940, to Wilbert and Hilda Dietrich.  Competitive and intelligent, he turned academic talent into distinguished achievement, attaining a Master’s degree.  With this, he pursued a career in agricultural biochemistry and research compliance at several internationally prominent firms.  On November 14, 1964, he married his beloved Willa (nee ), marking the start of a supportive, earnest partnership of fifty-eight years.  Together they welcomed two children into their family.

A cerebral man, Lee enjoyed pursuits such as chess – particularly playing grandmaster games from his extensive collection of strategy books.  He balanced this with enjoying the outdoors on the golf course.  Together with Willa, he took up dancing and shared his hobby of social cards in return.  He is remembered as a straightforward and genuine man, an understanding and easy-going husband.

Lee’s memory will continue to be cherished by his wife, Willa; their children Leigh Anne Dietrich (McInerney) and Phillip Andrew Dietrich; grandchildren John and Jordan McInerney, Anya McCurry, and Zachary Dietrich; and his sister, Sue Houghton.

He joins at rest his parents, sisters Barbara and Louise, and granddaughter Madelynn “Maddy” Nicole.

Services will be held at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.  Memorial visitation will be September 20, 2023, from 11 am – noon, then proceeding to the mausoleum for placement of the urn.
