Leon L. Langer

Leon L. Langer, of Fox Lake, passed away on November 27, 2023 at the age of 94. Born in Kewaunee, Wisconsin to the late Anton Sr. and Anna Langer, Leon graduated from Kewaunee High School before being drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Japan during the Korean war.  Upon returning, Leon attended St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin completing his bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Leon married the love of his life, the late Margaret Ann Langer nee Salkowski, on November 9, 1957. Leon and Marge went on to welcome five children and move their family to Waukegan, Illinois while maintaining a close connection to their treasured hometown often attending high school class reunions.  He worked as an accountant for small businesses until his retirement when he chose to continue working as a delivery driver around town, always making a friend wherever he traveled. Leon loved to ride his bicycle and completed riding over 100,000 miles in his lifetime.

Leon was quick with a joke, a prayer or a helping hand. A devout Catholic all his life, he attended mass almost every day and frequently prayed the rosary for others. He often said his greatest accomplishment in his life was his family and regularly affirmed how proud he was of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved the family he and Marge built and believed God had brought him the greatest life he could have hoped for.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret, his siblings, the late Anton Langer Jr., Stanley Langer, Adeline Freed, Ruth Ann Stiglich, sister-in-law Agnes Langer and son-in-law Larry Marsh.

He is survived by dearly loved brother James (Mary Alyce) Langer and his cherished children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was the loving father of five children, LeAnne (Larry) Marsh, Holly (Randy) Fink, Jay (Jodi) Langer, Stacia (Steven) Ashley and Troy (Mary) Langer.

The proud grandfather of twelve, Lindsay (Darnell Williams) Marsh, Shanna (Cody) Hoshaw, Bradley (Connor Matthews) Fink, Adam Fink, Madison Langer, Jameson Marsh, Hayden Langer, Erin Fink, Nina Ashley, Tanner Ashley, Morgan (Luke Oja) Langer, Nicole Langer and adored great grandfather of Zoe and Brooks Hoshaw.

Leon was a fond uncle, cousin, and friend to many who will miss him.
