Lester Hill Sr

October 14, 1931 — September 24, 2014

Lester Hill, Sr. was born on October 14, 1931 in Belmont, Alabama to Ed and Narsis Brown-Hill.
In 1951 July 2, Lester greeted his first offspring Evangelist Lizzie Hill-Stovall. Lester Hill, Sr. married Laura Mae Evans on September 30, 1955. Five children was born to that union.
Lester moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1956. Some months later he moved to Waukegan, Illinois. He brought his family here later. Lester worked odds jobs; such as car wash and lawn services; until he was hired at American Motor/Chrysler in Wisconsin as a Die-setter May 15, 1958. He worked for 35 years and 6 months before retiring December 31, 1993.
Lester Hill married Annie Beatrice McHaney June 22, 1985. Five children were adopted to this union.
Elder Hill worked tirelessly through sickness and health beside his wife Dr. Annie B. Hill and founded the Unity Temple Mission C.O.G.I.C. He helped prayed the church out from the basement of their home to it's present location at 500 S. Genesee Street, Waukegan, Illinois.
Elder Hill had a heart for service over the years. He fed the hungry, clothe the naked, and took the homeless into his home (fed them, clothe them, took them to work and school).
On September 1, 2014, Elder Hill was pronounced dead by four doctors. He began to respond after twelve hours and was removed from life support after twenty-four hours. But... God spoke life and yet he lived again!!
Elder Hill last dream was to complete the church building, put in a new stove, refrigerator and vent hood for the stove; so that the homeless who attended service at Unity could get a hot meal. He completed his dream in much physical pain from gout walking on a walker. HE FINISHED WELL!
Elder Hill passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, Illinois.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dr. Annie Beatrice Hill; eight daughters, Lizzie (James) Stovall, Eunice Hill, Shirley Powers, Janice (Michael) Butts, Loretta Coleman, Ladonna Frye, Lori (Melvin) Brown, and Lorraine Hill; three sons, Lester (Pat) Hill, Jr., Scott Hill, and Daniel (Tonja) Gibson, Sr.; one sister, Izona Banks; twenty-four grandchildren, Andrea, Christopher, Jeramie, Jeddah, Naariah, Lyniah, Josiah, Torren, Elexandria, Jeffrey Jr., Jarriel, DeVaughn, Zipporah, Amariah, David, Hadassah, Serah, Rebekah, Rachel, Sarafina, Isaiah, Danielle, Daniel Jr. and ReAnn; nine great grandchildren, Maikya, Brendan LaMar, Izaiah, Darrius Jr, Donnell, Freedom, Jaeonna, Dylan, Arielle; and one great great grandchildren, Braden; mother-in-law, Hester B.
