Lloyd Reinhardt

Lloyd Reinhardt known to his many friends as "Red" was born in Davenport, Iowa on October 2, 1930 to Carl and Alma (Leliefeld) Reinhardt. He passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Red met Joan Lamb at the Old Waukegan Airport where they both shared a love for flying, and later married her on September 7, 1957. Red attended Holy Family School in North Chicago, Waukegan High School and served in the Marine Corp as a Corporal during the Korean War. Red's lifelong dream was aviation, and he obtained his private pilot license in 1946. He refurbished several planes which eventually led him to building his dream plane called the "Christian Eagle." His other hobbies were fine woodworking including furniture, and also built an Austin Healy Kit Car. Red was in the Operating Engineer Union Local 150 for 50 years and a longtime member of EAA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Joan, who passed away August 22, 2012, son, Kevin Reinhardt; parents; brothers, John Reinhardt and William Reinhardt. He is survived by his loving family, sons, Kurt (Tammy) Reinhardt and Neil Reinhardt; grandchildren, Shelby and Tazz; brothers, Glen Reinhardt, Charles (Jeanette) Reinhardt and Joseph Reinhardt; sisters, Vada Welch and Wynell Butzine; sister-in-law, Claire Reinhardt and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 10am-2pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services are Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2pm at the funeral home with Fr. James Merold officiating. Interment at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee.
