Margaret Lynn Farner, lovingly known as “Peg” to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 14th, 2025 after a lengthy battle with illness. She was 73 years old.
Peg was born on February 18, 1952, in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Roland and Dorothy (Wolff) Woisard. On February 21, 1970, she married the love of her life, Richard Kenneth Farner, and together they built a beautiful life centered around family, love, and resilience.
Peg and Richard raised three children: Richard Thomas (Rhiannon) Farner, Jason Anthony (Shannon) Farner of Racine, Wisconsin and Rachel Shefka (née Farner) of Cudahy, Wisconsin. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kaitlyn Amaya Farner, Anthony Richard Farner and Jason Kenneth Farner.
Early in her life, Peg opened her heart and home to children in her community, babysitting and nurturing countless little ones in Rockville, Indiana. After moving to Mundelein and eventually settling in Round Lake Beach, Illinois, Peg worked for several companies in Lake County. But when her beloved husband Richard became ill, she made the selfless decision to leave her job and remain faithfully by his side until his passing on October 26, 2014.
Peg’s greatest passion in life was her family. She found joy in every gathering, holiday, and simple visit, cherishing the laughter and memories made. She also had a deep love for dogs, welcoming them into her home and heart throughout the years.
Though faced with health challenges, including end-stage renal failure, Peg met every obstacle with strength and determination. Her resilience, warmth, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kenneth Farner; her son, Richard Thomas Farner; and her parents, Roland and Dorothy Woisard. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends.
Friends and family will meet for visitation on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 10:30AM-11:30AM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL. The memorial service will begin at 11:30AM, followed by the interment at Warren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter or kidney disease research organization in her memory.
“Those we love never truly leave us; they live on in the memories we hold and the love we carry forward.”
