Marie Martens

March 29, 1926 — March 5, 2014


Marie "Mae" Agnes Martens, 87, of Wildwood, went home to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born on March 29, 1926 in Chicago to the late Robert and Bertha (nee Paulsen) Harris. On November 5, 1949 in Chicago, Mae married the love of her life, Norman Martens, Sr. who passed away in 1982. She is survived by her four loving children, Norman Martens, Jr. of Lake Villa, Diane Martens of Gages Lake, Daniel (Carrie) Martens of Chicago and Becky Martens of Wildwood; four grandchildren, Daniel Ponzio, Robert Ponzio, Katie Martens and Christine Martens, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 33 years; one sister, Emily Baker and three brothers, Al Martens, Stanley Martens and Robert Harris, Jr. Mae worked and retired after 20 years of service from Condell Medical Center. She will always be remembered for her strong faith and love for the Lord.
She generously served in any way possible at Gages Lake Bible Church where she was a founding member. Mae was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She had a sweet gentle spirit, very quiet and giving person who will fondly be remembered for her sweet tooth. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 4-8pm at Warren Funeral Home,
1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services take place on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11am with one hour of visitation prior to services at Gages Lake Bible Church,
18788 W. Gages Lake Rd., Gages Lake, IL. Pastor Howard Duncan and Pastor Jay Lovelace will officiate the services. Burial will be at 11am, Monday, March 10, 2014 at
Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights, IL.
