Otis Taylor, age 94 of Waukegan, Illinois sadly passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at home.  He was born November 16, 1928, in Marvell, Arkansas to the late Albert Elmo and Carrie TaylorHe was preceded in death by his parents; Albert Elmo and Carrie Taylor; son: Elton Otis Taylor; brother: Stanley Taylor and J.D. Taylor; cousin: Amos Taylor; sisters: Joycie B. Mason and Odessa Langston.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife, Minnie Lyon-Taylor of 22 years of marriage of Waukegan, IL; sons: Larry D. Taylor of North Chicago, IL;  Glenn Taylor of Chicago, IL; Bobby Ray Taylor (Cornelia) of Addison, IL; Earnest Mack Taylor of North Chicago, IL; Elton Otis Taylor (Deceased); daughters: Connie Taylor of Chicago, IL; and Linda Cox (David) of Marvel, Arkansas.  Stepchildren: Kenneth Davis (Tiffany) of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Kelvin Lyon (Sondra) of Zion, IL, Lisa Lyon of Milwaukee, WI, and Eric Lyon of Waukegan, IL. Otis helped raise his niece, Jean Tillman. Sister-in-Laws: Lula Mae Taylor of Highland Park, IL, Clara Taylor of Baton Rouge, LA, Fannie Harris of Zion, IL, and Josephine Butler of Senatobia, MS; Brother-in-laws: Ira Davis of Memphis, TN and Joel Davis of Sardis, MS. 9 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At an early age, Otis professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marvel, Arkansas.  He ran the family farm in Marvel, Arkansas before relocating to Illinois.  Otis and his former wife (Luethel Jones) and the family relocated to the West side of Chicago in 1958, and migrated to the South side of Chicago in the 1960’s.  He relocated to North Chicago, IL. in 1989 and was married to his former wife (Christine Jackson).  Otis retired from International Harvester (later known as Komatsu Dresser) as a welder after 30 years of dedicated service.

The family has entrusted the arrangements to Warren Funeral Home 1475 N. Cemetery Rd. (located on the northside of the intersection of Tri-State Parkway and Cemetery Rd.) in Gurnee, Illinois 60031. For further information please call 1-847-855-2760.
