His family later moved to Kenner, Louisiana, where he attended the Louisiana Public School System where he maintained an A-A plus average in his classes. His Teachers loved him. He had a very vivid imagination. At an early age, he made his own guitar. He enjoyed reading, fixing things, dancing, and listening to music, especially James Brown and Jackie Wilson. He later moved to Milwaukee, WI where he met and married Jennifer Palmer in September 1972, where they moved to Illinois and later had one child, Katarina.

Pops was a carefree, hardworking, loyal, loving person and very dedicated to his family and friends. His character would bring life to any dull situation. He enjoyed meeting , encouraging and helping people when he could. Pops was a true friend to anyone he crossed paths with. His presence will definitely be missed.

Later in life, Pops accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour and started attending church at Greater St. James Temple C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Torrance A. Markham Sr. where he would attend until he could no longer.

After putting up a good fight, on June 17, 2025, Pops gained his wings. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
