Richard L. Vogt (Windy) 90 passed away peacefully Sunday, September 7, 2025 at The Grove at the Lake in Zion, IL.

He was born in Waukegan, IL on April 29, 1935 as the son of the late Raymond & Frances (Jakaltis) Vogt. He met and married Adrienne on April 29, 1957. In 2022, Richard and Adrienne celebrated 65 years of marriage. They were blessed with 5 beautiful children and 8 grandchildren.

A longtime resident of Waukegan, Richard retired from United States Steel where he worked on the wire production line. He then proceeded to spend his remaining work years at the Northern Trust Bank in Lake Forest until he retired. Richard served the US Steel retirees club for many years taking on many roles including President. During retirement Richard kept active by cutting lawns, transporting cars, helping friends in a local convenience store. Richard enjoyed helping take care of his grandchildren, often picking them up from school and taking them for treats. All who knew him knew he enjoyed people, he had many, many friends and acquaintances who he would check-in on and talk to. He was always going somewhere to see someone and bring some light into their life. In his later years, he enjoyed spending his days coloring and playing bingo.

Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife Adrienne, his parents Raymond and Frances Vogt, his sister Geraldine (Chumbley), brother Clarence Vogt, sister Rosemary (Korpela), his son Michael Vogt, and his granddaughter Kristen Daley.

In keeping with Richard’s wishes there will not be a formal service or gathering.
