Ruth Hickman

April 26, 1919 — November 30, 2015

Ruth N. Hickman, 96, of Waukegan, passed away November 30, 2015 at Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan. She was born April 26, 1919 in Haverhill, MA to Everett and Edith Mae (Locke) Nutter. On February 14, 1946 in Dover, NH, Ruth married Carl H. Hickman. Ruth was a seamstress her entire life. She was kind, generous and giving. Ruth was a longtime member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Waukegan, a lifetime member of the VFW in Antioch, a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and former member of the Edmond Oklahoma Elks Club. She is survived by her four loving daughters, Carla Hickman, Wanda (Tom) Hagerty, Wendy (Ron) Celesnik and Heidi (Dusty) Huckabee; six grandchildren, Karl (Holly) Hatton, Keith (Erin) Hatton, Joe (Roxy) Shepherd, Tony (Penny) Shepherd, Amy (Jerry) Geltner and Betsy (Kosta) Tzavaras; eleven great grandchildren, Kalan, Gabriel, Olivia, Isaac, Lucas, Shana, Erika, Charity, Penelope, Angelo and Addison; three great-great grandchildren, Hazel, Wren and Rae. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 44 years; two brothers and one sister. Visitation is Monday, December 7, 2015 from 4-8pm at WARREN FUNERAL HOME, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee. Funeral services are Tuesday at 9am at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
