Shelby Goodrode

Shelby Jean (Trampish) Goodrode, 83, of Richlands, NC passed away on March 10, 2022, at home with family, after long battle with breast cancer. Born in Chicago, IL on March 12, 1938, to Norman W. Trampish and La Vergne “Tootie” Hanley. She grew up in Highland Park, IL where she married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” F. Goodrode in 1956.  They were married 45 years until he preceded her in death on June 8, 2001.

For the last 15 years she has resided in Richlands, NC, moving close to her daughter’s family to watch her grandchildren grow up. She was a member of the “Red Hats” and a member of First Christian Church of Richlands.  She enjoyed camping with the “On The Road Gang”, talking with friends and family near and far, caring for her pets, wildlife, and flowers.

Surviving is her son, Dennis Goodrode; daughter Deborah (Stephen) Rogers. Three grandchildren Brandon Rogers, Austin (Liz) Rogers, and Courtney Rogers. Brother Thomas Benke; sister Judy O’Brian; nieces Jennifer (Brian) Freeze, Cari (Jon) Hemmer, Julie (John) Trapani, Justine Barkley (Michael O’Linger) and Jolene Barkley (Scott Abrahamson); nephew Jim (Lynn) Barkley.

Services will start with a one-hour visitation, at 2:00 p.m. on March 20, 2022, followed by funeral service at First Christian Church of Richlands at 124 Trott Rd.

She will be entombed next to her husband in a graveside service at Warren Cemetery, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2022.
