Shirley Stefanic

Shirley (Waldorf) Stefanic, 92, of Gurnee, peacefully passed away November 20, 2016 surrounded by family. She was born October 29, 1924 in Harvey, Illinois to George Alvin and Geraldine (Ewing) Waldorf. Shirley worked and retired, after many years of service, from Waukegan Township High School. She enjoyed traveling, theater and most of all visiting with family and friends. Shirley was an active member of First Christian Church of Gurnee, Wildwood Presbyterian Church and the Moose Lodge of Zion. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Bowles and Larry (Colleen) Bowles; grandchildren, Bret (Arda) Bowles, Melanie Bowles and Nathan (Jennifer) Bowles; sister, Barbara (Robert) Summers; a niece, nephews and many great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Anton (Tony) Stefanic; parents, George Alvin and Geraldine Waldorf. Special thanks to JourneyCare Hospice and Sunrise of Gurnee. A memorial service will be held Wednesday November 23, 2016 (Service 10:00 am) at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 18630 W. Old Gages Lake Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030.
