Stanley Ray Nelson

Stanley Ray Nelson passed away on Sunday the fourteenth of June 2026 at Burr Oak extended care facility in Genoa City, Wisconsin. Stan was born on March 8, 1940 to Alfred T. Nelson and Bernice E. Nelson (Stover). Stanley grew up in Waukegan, Illinois and graduated from Waukegan East High School in 1958. Stanley married Lucille Melcher of Gentryville, Indiana in 1962. He worked for many years as a supervisor for Outboard Marine Corporation in Waukegan, IL. He also worked as a maintenance man for Kohl’s department store in Vernon Hills, Illinois until he retired. Stanley loved to fish, enjoyed watching football, was an avid fan of westerns and loved Elvis. Stan was preceded in death by his father Alfred and mother Bernice, his sisters Lois Striech and Mary Schmitt, and his nephew James Striech. He is survived by his three children Darren Nelson (Lisa) of Green Lake, WI., Bradley Nelson (Melissa) of Antioch, IL., and Suzanne Markovitz (James) of Estero, FL. As well as his ten grandchildren, Darren Christopher Nelson, Bradley Jay Nelson, Chealsie Nelson (Louis), Grayson Nelson, Paxxden Nelson, Joshua Johson (Miranda), Alexis Zapada (Christopher), Jacob Johnson, Grace Markovitz, and Jacklyn Markovitz. Stanley is also survived by his four great grandchildren Raelynn, Evelynn, and Coralynn Nelson, and Leilana Nelson-Rillo. and by his nephew Jeffery Striech of Zion, IL. A small service for immediate family will be held at noon, Tuesday June 23, 2026; followed by interment at Warren Cemetery in Gurnee Illinois.
