Terence Tucker

November 4, 1939 — June 25, 2018

Terence A. Tucker, 78, a lifelong resident of Waukegan passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Denise (McEnerney), his daughter, Lisa Tucker, his son, Christopher Tucker (Shari Blum) and his granddaughter, Claire Skuble. Fond brother-in -law of Kathleen Jakobi, William (Maureen) McEnerney and Dennis (Laura) McEnerney and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry had a love of politics, the theater and tennis and was a participant in all 3 of these aspects of his life for many years:
His political interests prompted him to run for Precinct Committeeman, he also worked as a Clerk in the County Treasurer's Office, went on to become Deputy Treasurer and then was appointed to fulfill the office of Treasurer upon the death of Robert Skidmore. After that term was completed, he successfully campaigned for and won a second term as Treasurer. During his active years in politics, he was a member of the Lake County Republican Federation, and served as President of the Waukegan Young Republicans.

Terry served his Country as a member of the USMC Reserves for 6 years and received an Honorable Discharge as Sgt. in 1969.

He was also a member of the Elks Club and Waukegan City Club and served 2 terms as President of that group.

Up until his death, he was an active member of Waukegan High School Class of 1957 Alumni group. As a member of that group he was instrumental in helping plan several reunions, including the groups 50th!!! He talked of the fun of seeing people he grew up with 40 and 50 years later and really enjoyed their get togethers.

His grandmother was instrumental in developing his love of the theater and as a young man, he traveled with her to Chicago and New York to see major musicals. His love of theater stayed with him forever and he and his granddaughter Claire went to several local and Chicago theatrical productions.

When the children, Lisa and Chris were young, they traveled with Terry and his wife to many local resorts and to places like New Orleans and Las Vegas. He always enjoyed travel and several years ago found his favorite way to travel----Cruising!! He was able to take several nice cruises, including a wonderful Europe and Greek Islands cruise in 2010. Once he was talked into his first cruise, he was hooked and talked recently about planning another cruise. Unfortunately, his health didn't allow that to happen.

During the past 5 years, Terry experienced several life-threatening illnesses and, to many of the doctors' amazements, came through all of them. One of the doctors told him he had more than 9 lives. On June 25th God decided that he did not need anymore suffering or pain and brought him to Eternal Life. We know our husband, father and grandfather is looking down on all of us with love and with his dry and many times sarcastic sense of humor. We can hear him saying to people with less than Broadway talents "Don't quit your day job"

Terry was preceded in death by his parents Albion and Esther Jane (McDermott) Tucker, his grandparents Albert and Gertrude (Mowers) McDermott, many aunts, uncles cousins and his Beloved dogs McDuff and Marnie and several other pets.

Rest in Peace, Terry, Dad and Grampy, We love you!!!
