Travis Sherrod Sr

Travis Sherrod, 89 of Waukegan passed away on Friday July 7, 2017 at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan. He was born September 8, 1927 in Kingston, Oklahoma and was a resident of Waukegan for over 65 years. He was a heavy equipment operator for Local #150 retiring in 1994. After his retirement, he learned to fly and became a power parachute pilot. He loved boxing, watching westerns and exercise. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joan, 6 children Travis (George Gorham) Sherrod of New York, New York, Sherry (Don) Carman of Beach Park, IL, Jason (Liza) Sherrod of Southern Illinois, Terry (Dale) Shreve of Tomah, WI, Anton Mraz of Round Lake Beach, IL and Steve Sherrod of Waukegan, IL; 10 grandchildren Angela (Jesse) Campbell, Joshua (Crystal) Sherrod, Desire Mraz, Erin (Nick) Hawn, Nicole (Jeff) Holland, Tinaya (John) Pieritz, Dana (Jake) Tornga, Anton Mraz, IV, Kimber Carman and Kristina Carman and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Mae and Jay Sherrod, 1 sister Lois Zable and 3 brothers Wesley, Delmas and Louis Sherrod. Funeral service and entombment will be private for family only as per his wish at Warren Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1475 North Cemetery Road, Gurnee. Donations may be made in his memory to St. John's United Church of Christ in Waukegan.
