Zbigniew Kubala, Ph.D., of Wadsworth, IL passed away at home on July 25, 2017 at the age of 66.
Zbigniew is survived by his wife, Jolanta Beisert Kubala of 42 years; 2 sons Piotr Kubala; Andrzej (Justyna) Kubala; 1 daughter, Alisia Kubala; 2 grandchildren, Adam and Julia; and 1 sister, Joanna Kubala-Babol. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerzy Kubala and Ludmila Kubala.
Zbyszek was a great and passionate Engineer. He graduated from the Technical University of Wroclaw in 1978 with a Ph.D. in Machine Tool Design and Manufacturing, with an emphasis on theoretical aspects of abrasive machining processes. He continued teaching and research activities until 1985. He came to the US from Poland in 1986. Between 1986 -1989 he worked as Visiting Scholar at the University of Missouri, Rolla, conducting research on High Pressure Water Jet Technology sponsored by General Motors and US Department of Energy. In 1989 Dr. Kubala was appointed as Research and Development Manager at Deublin Company, responsible for development of new products for various markets Worldwide. Providing a number of innovative solutions for sealing problems in automotive, machine tool, paper, printing, plastic, rubber, corrugating, steel, semiconductor, petroleum and other industries; he was instrumental in the growth of the company. He held at least 15 patents and authored many publications. In 1996 he cofounded Prosco Inc., an innovative technology company, which currently has customers worldwide and produces specialized equipment and technology for machining and inspection of elastomer products, fulfilling his lifelong entrepreneurial dreams. The company is still active and managed by the Kubala family.
Zbyszek was also an avid sailor, as a member of both the Joseph Conrad Yacht Club (now also known as the Waukegan Yacht Club) and the Polish Yacht Club. He loved sailing his recently acquired sailboat "Endeavor;" but also loved tinkering and improving the boat. In addition, he held a pilot's license for small airplanes and gliders, he loved riding his motorcycle, and was an accomplished poet. He spoke several languages throughout his life including his native Polish, German, Russian, English, and most recently studied Spanish. Zbyszek has also traveled to many places both for business and leisure, including many countries in Europe, Asia, South America, and the Caribbean islands. He liked to be busy pursuing his many interests.
But mostly he was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed. May his Soul rest in Peace.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 4:00PM until 8:30PM at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N Cemetery Rd., Gurnee IL 60031. A second visitation will take place at 11:00AM with Services starting at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Warren Funeral Home.
