Obituary

On May 21, 1947, Sally Ann Harris was born in Newport, Arkansas to Chester and Mable Coburn.  She was the youngest of 16 children. 

She was a member of Pleasant Briar Fork Church in Jackson County.  She attended Branch High School in Newport, Arkansas and finished her education at North Chicago Community High School (Class of 1965) while living with her big sister, Evangelist Mable Jones, and her husband Pastor Eugene Jones.   

She accepted Christ at Ward Memorial Church in Waukegan, IL.  She served in the choir at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in North Chicago under the leadership of Pastor Solomon Smith.  She faithfully supported the missions of Rehoboth Church of God in Christ under the leadership of her nephew, Pastor Timothy Jones, and All Nations Church of God Holiness in Christ under the leadership of her brother, Bishop Joseph Coburn, Sr.

She worked as a beautician for several years.  After that, she started a long and illustrious career at Abbott Pharmaceutical Laboratories where she worked as an executive for PPD Regulatory Affairs for 40 years.

Her union with Joseph Lee Harris produced her twins, Joey Lamont Harris, and Jacqueline Nicole Harris.

She departed this life on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, IL at 2:30 a.m.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 10 brothers, Arthur, Chester, JB (Little Bit), JC, Willie (Tootie), Albert, Maze, John (Fluky), HC and TC; 3 sisters, Ethel Williams, Elnora Freeman, and Mable Jones; and a stepdaughter, Julie Harris.

Her memory will be cherished by her devoted daughter, Jacqueline Harris of North Chicago and her beloved son, Joey Harris of Chicago; her brothers, Bishop Joseph (Mildred) Coburn of Waukegan, IL and Othell (Francis) Coburn of Waukegan, IL; 2 stepdaughters, Jennifer Harris of Roanoke, VA, and Jody Anderson, of Roanoke, VA and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 20 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Warren Funeral Home, 1475 N. Cemetery Rd. Gurnee, IL. 60031. Entombment will be in Warren Cemetery & Mausoleum.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in accordance with current State of Illinois Phase 4 regulations, all guests will be required to wear a face mask at all times.  There will be a maximum of 50 people allowed in the funeral home at a time and proper social distancing must be practiced.
